Embeddable PDF HTML5 Viewer - COnvert PDFs to SVG on the Server

Zero Footprint PDF HTML5 Viewer

This is exciting! We now have a live demo of Qoppa’s new HTML5 PDF viewer! It is a zero footprint, high-fidelity PDF viewer that can be integrated into any website or web application, without requiring any client-side plugin:

Try our new HTML5 PDF Viewer!

It’s not officially released yet, but it is already pretty good! Why so? Because this viewer uses what Qoppa Software is best at: Java and PDF rendering! So it is not surprising that the first version of our viewer is already superior to many HTML PDF viewers available on the market.

How does it work? PDFs documents are converted dynamically to SVG on the server, then served to any browser supporting HTML5.

PDF HTML5 Viewer, SVG preserves vector graphics.

The beauty of this new viewer is that:

  • on the client side, the viewer works everywhere, without requiring any plugin or certificate, because all platforms these days – Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, iOS, Android, etc… – have a browser that supports  HTML5.
  • and on the server side, Qoppa’s libraries are 100% Java so any J2EE server will do (Tomcat, JBoss, Glassfish, Websphere, Weblogic), on any operating system, be it Windows, Linux or Unix.

Spring release of Java PDF libraries adds new PDF editing component, JavaScript, time-stamping of digital signatures

Atlanta, GA April 11 2013 – Qoppa Software’s new spring release of Java PDF components and libraries delivers a new PDF editing and redacting component as well as support for JavaScript and time-stamping of digital signatures.

Qoppa Software is pleased to announce jPDFEditor, its new PDF editing component, which supports all the rendering, annotating and form filling features found in Qoppa’s other PDF components, plus more powerful editing features:

  • Content Editing: the content editing tool allows users to modify the content of  PDF documents:
    • Copy, delete, edit, move text
    • Copy, delete, move, resize images
    • Copy, delete, edit, move, resize shapes, and paths
    • Work with single or multiple text, image, or path objects
  • Redaction:  the redaction feature lets users permanently remove sensitive information from PDF documents:
    • Add redaction annotations to cover an area on a page. The area can contain any PDF objects such as text, image, or shape objects.
    • “Burn” the redaction annotations to remove the underlying content that intersects with the area redacted.
  • Access to jPDFProcess API: jPDFEditor comes packaged with Qoppa’s jPDFProcess library, providing access to a rich API to further manipulate PDF documents programmatically.

“We expect our new PDF component, jPDFEditor, to be of great interest to document management professionals wishing to PDF-enable their DMS, ECM, and BPM systems. Developers and integrators can now deploy a powerful PDF editor in their own java and web applications and be reassured that they have the most advanced Java PDF technology and user interface available on the market.” says Gerald Holmann, Qoppa Software President.

The new release also adds JavaScript support to Qoppa’s Swing PDF rendering components jPDFViewer and jPDFNotes, making it easier to fill interactive forms with features such as:

  • Form field calculations to automatically compute the value of given fields from other fields.
  • Form field validation to prevent invalid data entry and ensure that all required fields are filled in.
  • Form field formatting to facilitate the capture of special fields such as dates, social security numbers, postal codes, phone numbers, etc.

Time-stamping of digital signatures was added to fulfill the needs of Qoppa’s customers as many security standards now require this added level of security to encrypt administrative and legal documents. With the new 2013R1 release, it is possible to apply and verify PDF Digital signatures with Server timestamps authenticated by a trusted, independent authority.  Time stamps are essentially encapsulated in another certificate signed by the authority which contains both the customer’s and the time-stamp server’s signatures.

The new release adds many other improvements and internal fixes.  For more details, please visit the links below:

Spring release of Java PDF components and libraries by Qoppa Software adds creation of linearized PDF documents, user interface and API enhancements

Atlanta, GA March 19 2012 – Qoppa Software’s new spring release of Java PDF components and libraries delivers API improvements for easier integration into Java and web applications, along with UI improvements to make the PDF components easier for users to work with.

Key among the features delivered this spring is the ability for Qoppa’s library jPDFProcess to create linearized PDF documents. Linearization allows fast viewing of even large PDF documents over the web because pages of linearized documents are made accessible without the need for downloading the entire file.

With the new release, programmers gain further control when integrating the PDF libraries into applications. The revised API now supports adding PDF content to a specific layer, creating rotated rubber stamps, and adds a convenience method to overlay a watermark on top of PDF documents when viewing and printing. Moreover, Qoppa’s team has made licensing easier by simplifying the process of requesting, validating and setting license keys.

This release also adds many improvements to Qoppa’s visual PDF components such as a new invert colors mode and enhancements around interactive PDF forms, including support for Submit and Reset buttons and even better editing of interactive form fields data.

Gerald Holmann, President, says “Qoppa’s spring release of our Java PDF library products is all about continuing to deliver easy to use, powerful PDF products. Our PDF technology makes it easy for developers to confidently PDF-enable their own applications, while remaining focused on their business logic.”

Qoppa Software Automates Conversion of Word to PDF, Word to Images and Printing of Word Files

April 29, 2011 – Qoppa Software, a leading provider of PDF solutions, is pleased to announce the new release of PDF Automation Server 3 (PAS) with the following enhancements: Word to PDF conversion, Word to images conversion, Word file printing, improved performance and memory management, user interface enhancements, and improved PDF preflight.

This unique multi-platform workflow server product automates the receiving, processing, and routing of files. PAS accepts incoming files of multiple types from local and network folders, email, or ftp servers. It then performs a wide range of manipulations, based on preset criteria. Once changed, both the original files and the output files can be routed to a range of destinations.

“Qoppa’s PDF Automation Server is unique because it doesn’t require any third party software to interpret Word documents, most other products require Ghostscript, the Open Office server, or Microsoft Word to run. Additionally, PAS is 100% Java and thus delivers new Word conversion and automated printing on all server platforms” says Gerald Holmann, President of Qoppa Software.

PDF Automation Server is entirely based on Qoppa Software proprietary PDF technology. It is a reliable and affordable system to automate PDF workflows that works on Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix (Solaris, HP-UX, IBM AIX) and any other Java enabled platform.

Operations that can be performed by PAS include printing, preflight , digital signing, security management, assembling, merging, splitting, cropping pages, converting to/from images, extracting data, merging data, flattening fields and annotations, stamping, importing/exporting annotations, and more.

New general release of Java PDF components/libraries adds group annotations & unlimited file size access

Qoppa Software, a leading provider of PDF solutions, announces the general new release of their PDF libraries and components. This new version of Qoppa’s developer products continues the decade long tradition of Qoppa Software delivering tools for integration within web-based and java applications to quickly and reliably add PDF document capabilities such as viewing, printing, signing, form filling, markup and manipulation.

jPDFViewer, Qoppa’s Java component to display PDF documents,
as well as jPDFPrint, Qoppa’s Java library to print PDF documents,
now offer support for unlimited PDF file sizes as well as a faster document loading time.

“These improvements are possible thanks to the implementation of a new PDF source which accesses the PDF content directly from the files instead of having to load the contents into memory.” explains Gerald Holmann, Qoppa Software CEO.

jPDFNotes, Qoppa’s Java component to display, mark up and sign PDF documents, now offers full support for group annotations. Grouped annotations can be copied, moved, deleted, reviewed or flattened at once.

Performance has also been improved in Qoppa’s PDF engine, especially when rendering graphical documents with transparency. Users in the graphics and pre-press industry may enjoy faster processing times, in some cases up to 5 times faster, when printing and displaying such documents.
